The Facts Of Life是同名专辑中最悦耳的一曲。Sarah懒洋洋的半讲半唱，用悲观的角度来形容人生："No one gets through life without being hurt "。歌曲在以平时的语言讲述一个男孩的成长过程的同时，也在歌曲的最后一节关注到了青少年学生的性话题，而这首歌的主题，却是她的题目“生命之真实”。每个人都是这样过来的，幻想和恋爱，勇气和灰心……，我们排除各种道德戒律和社会观念来看待这些事，发现它就像白水一样似乎毫无意义却又无处不在。
整首音乐是标准的两段式，冷漠的说唱和优美的和声巧妙地结合起来，流行的同时也具有另类的启发。

Black Box Recorder乐队队员包括Luke Haines，曾当过Jesus And Mary Chain鼓手的John Moore与及女歌手Sarah Nixey。歌曲创作全部出自Luke及John的手笔。
喜欢Black Box Recorder可能是因为他们的那份黑色幽默及对流行乐坛的讽刺。糖衣般的调子、懒洋洋的配乐、美丽性感的女歌声，唱着的竟是一些关于失落、悲观、自杀、甚至乎变态的歌词，对比就像地狱与天堂。无论商业上成功与否，最自得其乐的相信就是Luke Haines这个天使与魔鬼的混合体。

这首英文版得真好听是SHE的远方吧？好像后街男孩也唱过，女声版得别有一番滋味
